A Major Milestone in the Professional Development of Pole Sport in Hungary: State-Recognised Pole Sport Coach Training Now Available

04/11/2026

Another significant step has been taken in the professional development of pole sport in Hungary. With the professional involvement of the Hungarian Pole and Aerial Sports Federation, the Győr Vocational Training Centre's Sport and Creative Technical School is offering the Sports Coach (Pole Sport) and Sports Organiser training programme, providing an opportunity to obtain a state-recognised professional qualification in sport.

This programme represents an important milestone for the sport, as it enables both practising pole sport instructors and aspiring coaches to acquire comprehensive, up-to-date professional knowledge and an officially recognised qualification.

One of the programme's most significant advantages is that it is fully state-funded and therefore completely free of charge for eligible applicants.

A Significant Step Forward in the Professional Recognition of Pole Sport

Pole sport has experienced continuous development in Hungary and internationally in recent years. An increasing number of athletes, coaches, clubs and sports organisations are becoming involved in the sport, while greater emphasis is being placed on high-quality, safe and professionally grounded coaching practices.

Alongside the development of the sport, access to appropriate professional education and officially recognised coaching qualifications has become increasingly important.

One of the fundamental objectives of the Hungarian Pole and Aerial Sports Federation is to ensure that pole sport continues to strengthen its position within Hungarian sport through a solid professional foundation, well-qualified coaches and a sustainable long-term athlete development system.

The introduction of a state-recognised sports coach training programme is therefore not merely a new educational opportunity, but an important step towards strengthening the professional foundations of pole sport and further enhancing its recognition.

Statement by Rozman Bíborka, President of the Hungarian Pole and Aerial Sports Federation – For the Future of Pole Sport

"The future of pole sport is determined not only by the achievements of our athletes, but also by the knowledge, professional competence and dedication of the coaches who prepare and support them.

For the Hungarian Pole and Aerial Sports Federation, it is particularly important that pole sport develops not only as a competitive sport, but also through the continuous strengthening of its professional foundations, coaching education and recognition within society.

We firmly believe that, just as in any other sport, high-quality, state-recognised coaching education is of fundamental importance in pole sport. The safety, development and successful preparation of our athletes require appropriate professional knowledge and expertise.

The availability of a state-recognised pole sport coaching qualification therefore represents a particularly significant milestone in the history of our sport. It is not simply a new educational opportunity, but an important step towards strengthening the professional standing of pole sport and further enhancing its role within the Hungarian sporting community.

We are proud that our Federation can contribute to this process through its professional involvement and expertise.

We consider it especially important that this opportunity benefits not only coaches who are already actively working in the sport, but also opens a new professional pathway for the next generation of coaches.

We strongly believe that well-qualified coaches, conscious professional development and a unified approach to coaching are among the most important foundations for the long-term growth and success of Hungarian pole sport."

Fully State-Funded and Completely Free Training

One of the greatest advantages of the programme is that both theoretical and practical training are provided free of charge to eligible applicants.

To qualify for free training, applicants must not already hold two qualifications obtained under Hungary's new official Register of Vocational Qualifications (Szakmajegyzék).

It is important to note that, when determining eligibility for free vocational education:

  • Qualifications previously obtained under the former OKJ vocational qualification system are not counted.

  • College and university degrees are not counted.

  • Qualifications previously obtained through adult education programmes are also not counted.

This means that the programme may also be available free of charge to individuals who already hold professional qualifications or university degrees.

Individual eligibility and the exact conditions for state-funded participation must be confirmed by the educational institution organising the programme.

What Does the Training Programme Offer?

The 18-month programme provides comprehensive theoretical and practical education designed to deepen participants' professional knowledge and develop the competencies required for effective coaching.

Throughout the programme, participants will gain knowledge and practical skills in areas including:

  • Anatomy, physiology and exercise physiology

  • Training theory and the design of training programmes

  • Functional anatomy and gymnastics

  • Pedagogy and sports psychology

  • First aid and health promotion

  • Sports management and sports organisation

  • Sports law and entrepreneurship

  • Pole sport-specific technical and practical knowledge

  • Athlete preparation, training planning and coaching

The sport-specific practical training enables participants to apply their theoretical knowledge in accordance with the unique technical and physical demands of pole sport.

A particularly valuable aspect of the programme is its contribution to safe coaching practices, effective training load management, injury prevention and the development of training methods tailored to athletes' ages, abilities and levels of experience.

A Training Programme Designed to Fit Around Work

The programme is structured to allow participants to complete their studies alongside employment, coaching responsibilities or other commitments.

Programme duration: 1.5 years (three semesters).

Theoretical education: Primarily delivered online, during weekday evenings.

Practical training: Generally held once a month on weekends during the first semester, followed by sport-specific practical sessions at dates agreed upon in advance.

Type of education: Formal vocational education delivered within an adult education framework.

The programme also includes a sectoral foundation examination, professional practical training and a final professional examination.

Who Is the Programme Recommended For?

The programme is particularly suitable for individuals who wish to develop their professional knowledge and obtain an officially recognised qualification in pole sport coaching.

It is especially recommended for:

  • Pole sport instructors and coaches who are already actively working in the sport.

  • Current or former competitive athletes who wish to pursue a future career in coaching.

  • Professionals working in pole sport clubs, associations and studios.

  • Individuals seeking to deepen their knowledge of anatomy, training theory, pedagogy and sports psychology.

  • Anyone who wishes to contribute to the long-term professional development of pole sport in Hungary.

Why Is a Recognised Coaching Qualification Important?

Pole sport is a technically complex discipline that requires considerable strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness.

The safe and effective preparation of athletes therefore requires not only practical experience, but also a sound understanding of anatomy, physiology, pedagogy and training methodology.

The responsibilities of a sports coach extend far beyond teaching technical elements. Coaches are also responsible for planning athletes' development, managing appropriate training loads, reducing the risk of injury and creating a motivating and supportive training environment.

Pole sport requires the same level of conscious, professional and responsible coaching as any other recognised sport.

The state-recognised training programme offers professionals working in pole sport the opportunity to complement their practical experience with structured, comprehensive sports science and coaching knowledge, thereby contributing to the continued development and professional recognition of the sport.

Working Together for the Future of Hungarian Pole Sport

The Hungarian Pole and Aerial Sports Federation is committed to continuously raising professional standards in pole sport, supporting coaching education and promoting the sport's long-term development.

We firmly believe that appropriately qualified coaches play a decisive role in athlete preparation, youth development, talent identification and the creation of a safe sporting environment.

The opportunity to obtain a state-recognised coaching qualification represents not only an important step forward for individual professionals, but also a valuable investment in the future of the entire Hungarian pole sport community.

We sincerely hope that as many current and aspiring pole sport coaches as possible will take advantage of this opportunity, allowing us to take another important step together towards the professional development, recognition and long-term success of pole sport in Hungary.
